Surftech Authorized Dealer Lake Erie Paddler is the featured SUP Paddle Board presenter at the 12th annual Ohio River PaddleFest in Cincinnati, Ohio.

We were honored and excited to be selected as the featured presenter for SUP Paddle Board programming at the 2013 Ohio River Paddle Fest in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 20th to June 22nd in 2013.

Last year’s SUP presenter was Jim Terrell, Olympian canoe racer, local paddling legend, and owner of Quickblade paddles so we had big shoes to fill.

We presented from our core programming of paddle board lessons, SUP Yoga, and paddle board fitness on Friday from 3PM to 9 PM.   We had a great turnout for our programs, which were conducted from a dock on a small lake at Coney Island Amusement Park.

The Paddle Board technique demo drew a crowd eager to learn proper paddle techniques and demo the Surftech paddleboards we brought with us to the event.

We had the good fortune to meet and work with Jim Terrell’s nieces, including Terrelyn Virzi who demonstrated her flawless pivot turn technique on a Surftech Universal 10’6”.  At the age of nine (9) years old she is someone to watch in the future on the SUP race circuit.

The SUP Yoga class drew participants from all over Ohio ready learn how to turn their paddleboard into a floating yoga mat.  A large crowd on the dock marveled at beauty of the synchronized flow of the yoga movements on the water.

In addition to scheduled event classes, we presented a special SUP Yoga session led by some of our existing customers.  Beth and Erin brought a group of yogi wahinis from Columbus to help us present a special evening session.  Beth and Erin demonstrated Acro Yoga techniques on the Surftech Universal 11’6” Paddle Board.  To say the least, the crowd, including myself was in awe.

In addition to the demos we joined 2,000 other paddlers mostly kayakers and canoeists on an eight mile recreational paddle down the Ohio River.  The recreational paddle started from the Day 1 Festival site of Coney Island and ended at the Day 2 Festival Site of Yeatman’s Cove in downtown Cincinnati.  At the Day 2 Festival site we enjoyed vendor booths, music, food and drink, and mingling with some of the other paddlers including meeting Roland Muhlen, an local paddler who participated in the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games as a C-1 Canoe racer.

If all the above wasn’t enough paddling, we hosted a special SUP Yoga session for Erin, Beth and their friends, Kat, Liz, Mallory, and Ashley at East Fork Lake State Park east of Cincinnati.  This turned out to be an amazing location for paddle boarding with small coves that made great shelters for practicing SUP Yoga.

We where amazed at the passion for paddling in Cincinnati which is known as the Paddling capital of the United States and we look forward to offering more paddle board classes in the near future.
