Jackalope Lakeside Cove is a northeast facing sandy beach located on a peninsula immediately east of the Black River. The peninsula and coast line along the Lorain’s east side creates a small bay that is protected from most winds from the North and West. This location creates a calm area on most days for stand up paddle boarding and is an excellent place for beginners and to enjoy Lake Erie. When the winds are strong from the northeast it becomes a destination for Northeast Ohio’s band of dedicated surfers.
The Jackalope Lakeside Restaurant, owned by our friend and local native Jim Andrews, is located on the peninsula and is one of the top restaurants for lakefront dining in Ohio. It is a great place to grab a healthy meal after a paddle board session on Lake Erie.
The beach is within 1/2 mile of our SUP shop making it convenient for a quick impromptu paddle board session or demo on Lake Erie.
