Paddle Board Fitness
SUP is Good For You
Lake Erie Paddler is bringing the advantages of core fitness through the sport of standup paddling, SUP, to the Great Lakes Region. Standup Paddling delivers the benefits of a cardio workout while combing upper body strength exercises with balance and core strength.
To understand how the fitness works, you must have an idea of how SUP works. Standup paddleboards, originating at or near the South Pacific, is done using a thick, stable paddle board and one paddle with which a paddler can maneuver across the water standing upright. Any time you’re on water, there is motion from wind and waves, meaning your body is forced to constantly adjust to changing conditions, using your core muscle group including abdominals, hips, and the back.
Lake Erie Paddler provides paddle board lessons for beginners, personal training classes for paddlers with advanced skills, and fitness paddle excursions for those seeking a serious workout. SUP Yoga is another type of core workout that can be experienced while doing SUP. Flexibility, strength, and tranquility are common links between Yoga and SUP.
